A valued and deeply respected associate of McGill Buckley, Melanie Adams offers over two decades of senior-level fundraising, planning and leadership experience. She has been a vital team member in recent campaigns for Perley Health Foundation, Ottawa Food Bank and Ottawa Salus.
With over twenty-three years of hands-on donor stewardship, campaign management, strategic planning, and leadership experience, Melanie Adams is an accomplished, in-demand, highly respected consultant and advisor to clients in the non-profit and charitable sectors.
Melanie began her career in 2001, managing legacy giving, major gifts and capital campaign portfolios. She soon moved into executive leadership positions and assumed the role of President and CEO of the Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) Foundation.
While at QCH, Melanie led several multi-million-dollar campaigns and, with generous philanthropists, created transformational impacts in hospital facilities and programs. She also led the organization through the gruelling Imagine Canada Accreditation Process, becoming the first hospital foundation in the region to achieve this coveted standard.
In 2019, Melanie left the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation to share her experience, leadership skills, philanthropic expertise and lessons learned with a broader base of small, medium and large organizations. Like everything she does, Melanie has embraced her latest professional chapter with great gusto and a positive outlook that uplifts and motivates her clients and colleagues.
Today, with a client-centred and collaborative approach, Melanie specializes in supporting mission-driven organizations, boards and executives. She excels at building capacity, achieving goals, and making a transformational organizational impact that is inspiring and meaningful to donors.
Working with staff, and volunteer leadership, her clients include those in the Healthcare, Long Term Care, Social Services, Research, and Arts sectors.
With a coaching technique, Melanie focuses on campaign assessment, planning and guidance, strategic planning and governance, training, and building organizational capacity. Every charity is different, and Melanie delivers a custom approach to each client.
Melanie is a director on the Carleton Place Hospital Foundation board and a former Ottawa Art Gallery Board director. She is also an executive mentor and coach within the charitable sector and a peer support coach with the Melanoma Network of Canada. She is a proud mom of five, a delighted grandmother of three, an avid boater, a happy wife and a friend to many.
