Case For Support for a New Youth Treatment Centre

Creating A Case for Support For the Dave Smith Youth  Treatment Centre

Of all the not-for-profit organizations we have worked with and supported, the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre will always be special to us. Our strong connection to the organization starts with the big-hearted man who founded the place – the late Dave Smith. From very humble beginnings in Ottawa’s centre town, Dave Smith became a restaurateur, caterer to the stars, successful businessman, community builder and philanthropist.

A Safe Place for a Fresh Start

In the early 1990s, Dave Smith rallied a community, knocked on doors and strong-armed public officials into opening a treatment centre for young people struggling with alcohol and drug use. From its opening in 1993 as a day treatment centre and transition to a residential treatment centre in 2010, the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre has helped thousands of youth and their families.

Since becoming involved with the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre in 2000, we have been continually moved by the dedication of a hard-working, talented staff and the bravery and strength of young people and families. Heart-wrenching and inspiring stories abound.

Lives in the Balance Campaign – Case for Support

In 2018 we were pleased to work with the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre to develop a new case for support and other communication materials for an ambitious fundraising program to support the building of an all-new youth residential treatment centre on a 25-acre parcel of land in the west end of Ottawa.

Working with senior management, campaign consultants and volunteers, we wrote, designed and produced a 24-page case for support to be used in face-to-face meetings with potential campaign supporters.

In the case, we highlighted the moving stories of two parents whose lives and families had been turned upside down by the struggles of their child. We also covered the benefits and details of the new youth treatment facility.
